Overview for the BA in History Degree (39 credits)
 

The BA in History is a liberal arts degree that provides breadth of knowledge while allowing students to pursue particular geographic or thematic interests.
 
 
Core requirements:  
100- or 200-level introductory courses 6 cr.
HIST 301  (The Historical Imagination) 3 cr.
HIST 490 (Senior Seminar) 3 cr.
 
U.S. History (at the 200-level or above) 6 cr.
European History (at the 200-level or above) 6 cr.
Non-Western History  (at the 200-level or above) 6 cr.
Electives 9 cr.


Additional information:

  • Please note that all history majors are required to complete 12 credits at the 400-level. Students must complete HIST 301 prior to their first 400-level course.
  • Students may not double-count courses within the major.
  • Students completing the BA in History must also complete a minor, typically 18 or 21 credits, in another field.
