Overview for the BSEd in Social Sciences for secondary education certification (54 credits)
 

The BSEd in Social Sciences (secondary education) prepares students for careers as History/Social Science teachers. This intensive degree allows students to combine coursework in history and one other social science (anthropology, economics, geography, political science, sociology).
 
 
History Area:  
HIST 121 and 122 (World Civilization) 6 cr.
HIST 301  (The Historical Imagination) 3 cr.
State-approved non-Western elective 3 cr.
 
Social Science Area 18 cr.

All courses must be in one discipline, chosen according to requirements set by the individual social science departments.

 
Related Social Science Courses 18 cr.

PS 104 or 110; GEOG 110 or 120; SOC 110; ANTH 140; ECON 200 and 201

 

Additional information:

  • Please note that all history majors are required to complete 12 credits at the 400-level. Students must complete HIST 301 prior to their first 400-level course.
  • Students may not double-count courses within the major.
