Introduction to the History Major
The History Department has reinvigorated its undergraduate programs by adding innovative courses
to the curriculum, providing more active student advising, and fostering an intellectual community
in which history majors and minors can thrive. Key features of the program include:
- An intermediate methodology requirement, satisfied by HIST
301 (The Historical Imagination), that provides students with the analytical
and research skills central to historical scholarship.
- A senior capstone seminar,
HIST 490 (Senior Seminar), in which students demonstrate their historical skills by
conducting in-depth research on a specialized topic.
CCSU’s History Department also boasts an active
History Club that plans regional
trips and hosts campus events as well as a regional chapter of Phi Alpha Theta,
the national honor society for history students.
